After our second photo critique on Monday, we spent Tuesday morning in Art History class. We spent all of our time in the Accademia, looking at works from the 13th century all the way up until the mid 16th century, by such artists as Giovani Bellini, Jacobo Tintoretto, and Titian. On Wednesday, we took a class trip to the island of Burano. Similar to Torcello, Burano is an island that was part of the original settlement of Venice. It is about a 40 minute boat ride away from the city of Venice, known mainly for its brightly colored houses and lacework. Students were instructed to shoot pictures that demonstrated the use of light, color, and shadow to create images while others created a narrative. Thursday morning was spent looking at several buildings on the Grand Canal and learning about how Venice was built as well as studying domestic Venetian architecture. After a break for lunch, students spent the afternoon exploring two churches, the church of San Zaccaria and Santi Giovanni e Paolo. Today, Friday, we spent the morning editing pictures from Wednesday's Burano trip and had our third photo critique in the afternoon. Here are a few of the top images from the critique.
