On Tuesday morning, the class made our way over to Fondemente Nuove where we took the vap over to the island of Torcello. It’s an island at the edge of the lagoon, about a 45 minute boat ride away, that is no longer lived on. However, there are two churches on the island that are great examples of early Venetian Byzantine architecture and decoration. We first visited Santa Fosca, the smaller matryium and then headed over to Santa Maria Assunta, a larger basilica.
On Wednesday, both the Basics and the Documentary photo classes spent the afternoon on Burano - an island known for its fabulous colorful houses and hand sewn lace. The doc class expanded on their existing projects while the basics class focused on color and space.
Yesterday, Krystina took both art history groups through Saint Mark's Basilica where they learned about its floorplan, golden domes & alterpiece.
Today was an all-day photo marathon, with classes both in the morning and afternoon. Top five photos from the basics class to come!
